I’ve been outside of radio for 3 months now. I’ve stood outside an industry I had been inside for nearly 20 years. Being on the outside looking in has given me a new perspective on my industry’s place on the global landscape.
When I ask “can you smell your own b-s?” I’m really asking you to not sweat the small stuff. We get so hung up on self importance and a belief that all that happens in our little business world matters to the rest of the planet. It doesn’t. Step outside the clique you’re in and have a broader look at what your business is about. Stop smelling your own BS.

Nice post! Much agreed! I use my wife as a way to gauge if something is important as she is not in the same industry. It is so easy to get caught up in the everyday bs of your own work.
I agree with Nick, I use the wife too to gauge if it “really” matters.
Yeah, you're the host.
It's interesting to see “Designers” being worked up about not receiving an invite to a “conference”
Don't they have more important issues to tackle?
