Spring is in full swing and now that you’ve traded out the sweaters for sandals, swept the garage and replanted the flower beds, it’s time to turn your attention to your computer.
It could use a good cleaning.
A simple can of compressed air will do the trick. Fire it at the fans and circuits inside your box to clean out the dust and quiet the hum down a bit. And don’t forget the keyboard.
According to Which? Magazine out of the UK, keyboards are a little more nasty than you’d like to admit. As in toilet seat nasty.
They tested 33 keyboards in an office and found they had 150x the acceptable limit of bacteria, or about 5x as skanky as the seat in the men’s room.
Think about it though – we do a lot of things with our hands, and if you’re not regularly washing, all that stuff goes right to the place you spend your day – your keyboard.
So get out the can and blow the dust off, and hit up Lifehacker for a more drastic way to fully clean your keyboard by removing each and every key and cleaning up the coliform.
